Alpinists’ Monument

Monumentul Alpiniștilor este ridicat în memoria a 4 tineri ce și-au pierdut viața pe munte

The Obelisk at lake Capra commemorates the loss of 4 lives in the Fundul Caprei Cirque. 4 young men died on the 7th of February 1963 and their bodies were discovered only the following summer.

The National Union of Communist Students contributed alongside the parents to erect the monument, therefore it was not possible for them to place an orthodox cross, but rather an obelisk.
